Nubrella - The first hands-free umbrella
Sometimes products are designed without questioning their actual target audience. Sure it rains all over the world, and yes, we all need umbrellas, and true, it would be nice to have our hands free – to talk on our cell phones and ride our bikes, but as the saying still holds, fashion before function people.

The Nubrella is the first hands-free umbrella and sits on shoulder straps to keep the top from pressing onto your head, and a strap in front that keeps it from blowing off. It is totally windproof and looks a bit like your own personal space bubble. People may laugh at first, but this invention may actually take off.

World's Oldest Bulb - Burning for more than 110 years

The world's oldest light bulb has been burning for more than 110 years - so little wonder it has a fan club with thousands of members and its own website. The so called "Centennial Light" has been on almost constantly since 1901. It holds pride of place in Fire Station 6, in Livermore, northern California.

Significance of April Fool's Day

April Fools Day is celebrated in different countries around the world on April 1 every year. Sometimes referred to as All Fools Day, April 1 is not a national holiday, but is widely recognized and celebrated as a day when many people play all kinds of jokes and foolishness. The day is marked by the commission of good-humored or otherwise funny jokes, hoaxes, and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, teachers, neighbors, work associates, etc.
This custom is thought to have started in France during the 16th century but the British are credited with bringing it to the United States.
The commonly accepted origin of April Fool's Day involves changes in the calendar. At one time, the New Year celebration began on March 25 and ended on April 1. However, in 1582, King Charles IX adopted the Gregorian calendar and accepted the beginning of the new year as January 1. Traditionally, in some countries such as Canada, New Zealand, the UK, Australia, Cyprus, and South Africa, the jokes only last until noon, and someone who plays a trick after noon is called an "April Fool" and taunted "April Fool's Day's past and gone, You're the fool for making one.” Elsewhere, such as in France, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Russia, The Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Ireland, and the U.S., the jokes last all day. In France and Italy children (and adults, when appropriate) traditionally tack paper fish on each other's back as a trick and shout "april fish!" in their local language.
